I'm freezing!

In the winter, whenever I feel chilly, I have no problem turning up the heat and enjoying the toasty warmth that resonates from the vents. But not this year. I knew it was going to be bad, but now I'm starting to panic. We got a letter with our gas bill this month saying that gas prices are going up 70%. Holy shit. You have no idea what this means for me. It means the thermostat will be monitered daily and any fluctuation will result in nagging from my dear hubby. So to prevent us from going broke and to avoid domestic disputes I have already decided I will not be messing with the temperature in the house. How the hell am I going to do this? For one I will be asking for sweaters for Christmas. And an electric blanket. I've already had the space heater up and running since fall arrived and no more barefooting around the house. It's really sad that so many people rely on gas heat, but won't be able to afford to use it this year. Just when you get used to being screwed one way they change to another more uncomfortable possition. I wish we had a woodburning fireplace, I wouldn't even use the furnace. But as it is I think we're going to have to get creative. So if anyone has any energy saving ideas for the rest of us, please share. Peace out.

Put plastic on your windows. Yes, it looks bad, but it helps keep drafts out. Also, get some insulatin strips for around the doors. It helps keep the cold air from coming in through the cracks around the door.
